If you don't think you have a green thumb and have given up on houseplants- Pothos will prove you wrong. Pothos literally stays green even in the dark -science says so.
Pothos loves bright, indirect light, but can handle a dark corner too.
If re-planting, any well-draining potting mix will do. Fertilize every few months for best results. Let the soil dry out between waterings. Make sure to slowly water from the top of the pole so that the roots get enough water for the plant.
When the leaves start to droop, its time to water. Make sure to trim the vines off any brown or yellow leaves.
