There are very few plants that can compete with a tree peony in full bloom. They flower late from April to early May, although the flowering season can vary from year to year. A mature plant can have excess of a hundred flowers, and these can be 25cm across. These huge, ruffled satin-like flowers are extremely hard;y. There was a time, many years ago in ancient Chima, when the only person who could own a tree peony was the Emperor himself!
Tree Peonies reach a mature height of 120-150cm.
