ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are looking for energetic Retail Nursery Associate to work in our Outdoor Plants Department who will provide stellar customer service and will keep our displays tidy and inviting at all times.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to be a self-starter and work cooperatively with our Retail team with a commitment to quality and professionalism.

 This position is needed on a temporary, part-time basis from April to mid-June to work 12-20 hours per week on weekdays, weekends and holidays with the possibility of staying on to season end (late October) for qualified candidates.

Nursery experience is preferred but not required. We will train mature, motivated individuals.

Our ideal candidates will work with minimum supervision and will possess outstanding interpersonal skills.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide courteous and prompt service to our customers with a focus on suggestive selling.
  • Perform plant care maintenance that includes watering, fertilizing, deadheading, pruning and transplanting.
  • Assist with receiving plant deliveries, pricing and displaying plants as scheduled.
  • Ensure that bench displays are fully stocked with the correct products and proper plant labels.
  • Advise customers of any ongoing sales promotions, events, workshops and to encourage sign-up to our in-store loyalty rewards program.
  • Participate in brainstorming meetings with our management team to meet our sales objectives and execution of merchandising strategies.

    Skills/Qualifications:

    • Ideal candidates will have at least 1 or 2 years of work experience in a Retail, Hospitality or Customer Service Setting
    • Ability to work with a sense of urgency - providing immediate customer assistance and resolving any issues that arise in a timely, friendly and respectful manner
    • Must not be afraid to get dirty at work – yes, we work with dirt!
    • Must be able to lift up to 20lbs throughout the day.
    • Must be detail-oriented and have a strong organizational and communication skills.
    • Ability to receive constructive feedback with a willingness to learn & improve.
    • When required, demonstrate willingness to learn our in-house POS (Cash Register) and handle sales, gift cards, and loyalty reward transactions accurately.
